World Whisky Day 2023 - The Last Hurrah!

On Saturday 20th May we celebrated World Whisky Day and what a great celebration it was!!

From no internet for our Eftpos system to a power outage, we managed to calmly weather whatever came our way and keep the show grooving along and everyone having a great time. The support shown for this event was awesome to see, with one group of people even making event t-shirts and travelling from Brisbane to celebrate.

The live music as always was a great hit with popular tunes played by The Macquarie River Mudflappers who have played at every World Whisky Day from the very beginning, their music is so much fun with everyone up and rocking the dance floor.

Paul McMillan also entertained the crowd with his tunes making the night a super enjoyable affair, these Muso’s are absolute legends!

To the immense delight of the crowd The Coonabarabran Celtic Club Pipes and Drums band made a surprise appearance, they were a great hit and a fitting surprise to have at our last World Whisky Day celebration.

Five different whisky flights were offered on the day from a range of Aussie whiskies to an international selection.

For those that might not know, flights are a wooden paddle with 4 slots to hold whisky glasses, a selection of whisky is poured into the glasses for the customer to taste, therefore sampling a variety of whiskies from near and far.

The food was a deliciously slow cooked affair, with melt in the mouth meats, a full spit pig, spicy chicken wings, cowboy beans and coleslaw, a mouth wateringly flavoursome selection.

We would like to thank everyone for their support, especially our beautiful band of helpers who show up religiously each year to give us a hand, we are really appreciative of what the volunteers do and we certainly couldn't run the event without them.
